Battle shonen tend to draw the worst type of people. Frieren fandom is also very chill from what i can see, despite being very popular. Likewise with Detective Conan

Frieren's fanbase is so annoying imo. They act all holier than thou but can't take any criticism. It's a special type of annoying, a more circlejerk/reddit sort of annoying.

You can combine the toxicity of all WSJ fanbases and it still can't reach Detective Conan Chinese fanbase's level. But they contain it within themselves at least I guess

But you see guys. Yall talk about Frieren or Conan toxicity but my whole life i did not see or engage with them at all. This is what i meant by be a strainer not a sponge. Curate your own fandom space and happiness. You can never control other people.

It is just like how its fans think JJK is the biggest thing ever. But for most normies they have no idea what JJK is. Likewise with me with OP fans constantly complaining about spoilers or hyping gear 5 as if the 2nd coming of messiah, but for me i have no idea it even exist. People tend to be in echo chambers

Real talk, is there a single big shonen that doesn’t have a toxic fanbase? I feel like they’re all terrible. Spy x Family fandom is pretty good and mostly chill vibes despite being very popular so I think it’s just a battle shonen fandom thing

If it is I have seen some Totally Not Mark videos when he reviewed the Big 3 and had to deal with its fandoms. One Piece was nice, but we have been seeing some cracks from others. Naruto had some detractors where they got cheeky and spoiled parts of Naruto when it got to the Sakura debacle over the “Naruto, I Love You.” Line to Naruto over the Sasuke situation. And Bleach………yeah, let’s save that for another time. But yes, I think the battle series seem to be the ones that get a bit toxic.

Gotta be the Yozakura Family fanbase, all 5 of them. Being an exister has the merits of nobody caring enough to be toxic about you, and whoever's left under your wing just enjoys the product without much complaint or insecurity.

Then besides that, maybe sports manga? I never dabbled deeply into the Kurokos or the Haikyus, but I never caught wind of anything particularly grating from them.

What's the deal with being derogatory towards Yozakura? not the first time you do this kind of comment about the series.

It's not derogatory, it's a joke. Yozakura "existing" is a p. common joke about its lack of impact in the magazine.

....... if you think OP fandom is "nice", that's probably because everyone who ever dare to talk any form of minute criticism agains gOda has been executed by the cult. That, or the detractors gor exiled and form their own cult

Which again proves that it is battle shonens who tend to have extremely toxic people. Basically power scaling dudebros are objectively the worst

I am not in BB fandom so no idea if there was toxicity with shipping wars

I think the term is 'toxic positivity'. Like you're only allowed to like everything about it, and if you dislike even a certain aspect, you have become an enemy. Not that I know, I don't really dig into the Frieren fanbase.

Is being an exister a bad thing? I wouldn't say I was trying to be derogatory toward it, but if you took offense to that, I'll apologize. My humor tends to veer into insulting territory.

That said, it's not exactly the most popular thing in terms of engagement, sales are decent at best, anime didn't really give that much of a significant boost either. If all of my favourite axebaits got as far as Yozakura Family did by having a serviceable performance and a small and dedicated fanbase, I'd be happy. Being kept alive by 5 guys (I know it's not actually 5 guys, don't take it literally) over 200 chapters is pretty significant if you ask me, cause that's more than most manga can ask for.

Yeah I’m gonna be honest with you, One Piece has the worst fandom of any right now by far. That crack is wide open and it’s been that way for a while. It’s only just under Naruto at its peak which I consider to be the worst anime fandom ever

It's fine, is just that i have read hateful/derogatory comments about Yozakura with the same "wording" for the last 5 years, so at this point it just sounds like mockery even if isn't the intention.

The jokes started well before last year lol. Like, think before Kill Blue debuted. Jump's situation's become worse, anyway, so the jokes have decreased as Yozakura's performance has been comparatively better than a certain Not-Unlucky manga among others.

The thing with Frieren fanbase is that the people that don't enjoy or don't enjoy as much will be like 90% of the time talk about starting with "why this is so popular/loved, i don't understand, it's so slow/boring", so the fans probably just got tired of this already and just be like "go watch your dumb and mindless battle shounen"

I'm not really bothered by fandoms because you have to remember a lot of social media discussion and interaction is coming from literal children (no offense to the teens on the forum.) Shonen in particular draws a younger crowd and I'm content to let them be excitable and shitpost and yell at each other.

Part of the reason I was drawn here was because I noticed there are other older posters, and it's a space for people to have more elaborate conversation than somewhere like Twitter.
