Air Fryer Pizza Bombs - Recipe Diaries (1)

If you didn't know this, February 9th is considered National Pizza Day! I wanted to celebrate by making these Pizza Bombs with Pillsbury Crescent Roll dough. It was either that, or ordering out for pizza and I had everything in the fridge to make these.

So, I recently changed this recipe. Both of these doughs will work but the previous one called for Greek Yogurt which is made of Whole Milk. I can't eat a lot of whole milk anymore because of how it upsets my stomach, so I switched this to crescent roll dough.

Ingredients Needed

Air Fryer Pizza Bombs - Recipe Diaries (2)
  • Pillsbury Crescent Roll Dough - Or Refrigerated Canned biscuit dough.
  • Turkey pepperoni - is lower in calories in fat than regular pepperoni
  • Reduced Fat Light String Cheese - has a lower calorie count and less saturated fat than regular cheese, but it may also have a different taste and texture. It also helps with keeping the calorie count pretty low for this recipe.
  • Light butter - I use light butter such as I Can't Believe IT's Not Butter to help lower the calories. It's easily scoopable and comes in a tub.
  • Garlic -Chopped fresh garlic can take some time to chop so I often always use the freshly minced garlic that comes already made in a jar.
  • Parsley flakes for garnish (optional)
  • See recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.

Can you cook pizza in an air fryer? ›

Once you know how much dough to use, making pizza in your air fryer is quite straightforward. Just as in your standard oven, thinner-crust pizzas can be baked on parchment; thicker crusts will need the support of a pan. Parchment will help you move your thin-crust pizza into the fryer.

Can you put foil in an air fryer? ›

The great news about air fryers is that you can use foil along with parchment paper to cook your food in an air fryer. Just remember that if it's safe and effective to use in a conventional oven, it will work just fine in an air fryer.

What temperature do you heat pizza in an air fryer? ›

Air frying is fast, easy, and gives a perfectly crispy texture with gooey, melted cheese. How long do you reheat pizza in the air fryer? I recommend heating leftover pizza for 3-4 minutes in a preheated air fryer at 350°F. If you don't preheat the air fryer, it may take a little longer.

How long to cook pizza rolls in an air fryer at 400 degrees? ›

Preheat the air fryer to 400°F for 5 minutes. Place 20 frozen (do not thaw or allow to rest on the counter before cooking) pizza rolls in a single layer in the bottom of your air fryer basket. Set the timer to cook for 5 minutes. Stop to flip the rolls after cooking for 3 minutes.

"We recommend using a three-minute preheat for most models," says Shah. For larger and oven-style air fryers, preheat for five minutes. Once the preheat timer has elapsed, add the food in a single layer (handling the basket carefully since it will be hot) and cook according to the recipe.

Cook at 375 degrees F for about 7 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and cheese has melted. Eat after letting the pizza cool (it'll be piping hot!)

Preheat your Air Fryer to 350 degrees, spray the pan and sides of the Air Fryer basket with cooking spray. Place the circles of dough in the Air Fryer. You want it to be full but still have room around each of the bundles of dough. Spray the tops of the dough with cooking spray.

How do you speed proof pizza dough? ›

Dough that proofs quickly

Make sure your dough is left in a warm enough area for the yeast to work faster. The more yeast is visible, and the extra sugar is some extra food for the yeast, ensuring that it is eating and producing gas as a result. The ideal temperature is between 20 and 38 degrees Celsius.

How do you proof pizza dough without a proofing box? ›

In the winter, when your house and kitchen are at a crisp temperature and you need a warm spot for your dough to rise, create a makeshift “proof box” by placing a bowl of steaming water inside your oven alongside your bowl of dough.
