A video visit provides convenient access to urgent care for adults and kids, whether at home, in the office or while away from home. Urgent care video visits are available 7 days a week 24 hours a day on your smartphone, tablet, or computer. It's easy to use, free to enroll, private and secure.

Note: This is not a scheduled video visit with your primary care or specialty provider. To schedule a virtual health care visit with your provider, call your provider’s office directly.

Follow these steps to start an on-demand video visit:

  1. Sign in toMyChart. Don’t have an Account?Create one
  2. From the Your Menu dropdown, select Start On-Demand Video Visit.

  3. Verify your location and click Confirm. Note: You must be physically located in the states of NC or SC to use this service.
  4. For what brings you here today, select General Video Visit. After you've made your selection the estimated wait time will display.

  5. Choose whether you will use a computer or the mobile app as the preferred method of connection.
  6. Click the Put me in line button.

  7. Enter the most important thing you want to address during the visit and click Schedule.
  8. Next, go to e-check-in and verify that your personal and medical information is correct.
  9. Begin video visit.
  10. Once e-checking is complete the Begin Video Visit button turns green.
  11. Click on theBegin Video Visit button.

The pop-up reminder reminds you to set push notifications through my chart in order to receive notifications that a provider is ready to see you. Once the provider is ready, Zoom will launch, and you will connect with your provider.

When the visit is complete the provider will end the meeting.

Video visits are often the same price as office visits.

How to prepare for an on-demand video visit:

  • Before you sign up for a video visit, make sure your computer has a working camera, microphone, and speaker. If you don't meet these requirements, try using the MyNovant mobile app. Download apps here:

  • To use a mobile device for your video visit, you need to have the MyNovant mobile app installed.
  • During the video visit, please ensure that your camera and audio are turned on. You should be located in a safe and quiet location. Please ensure that the area you are in has proper lighting, so providers can adequately assess your concerns. You should not be driving or be engaged in other activities when connected with a provider for your video visit.
  • The patient must be present for the video visit with the camera turned on. If you are a parent requesting a video visit for your child, your child must be present and on camera during the video visit.
  • A request for a video visit doesn’t guarantee that a prescription will be given. A medical provider will evaluate your condition to determine the medically necessary treatment.
  • We are unable to view any sensitive areas during these visits. This type of request would require an in-person visit.

Scheduled appointment video visits are an easy way to see your providerwhenever your provider's office is open. A scheduled video visit with your provider can be used for a wide variety of visit types, as determined by your provider.

How to prepare for a video visit with your provider:

  • You'll need aZoom Account and a MyChart Account. If you haven't already, download the latest version of Zoom at www.zoom.us/download and click the Download button. Follow any instructions on the screen to complete the installation process.
  • Before your Scheduled Video Visit starts:
    • Turn off all pop-up blockers
      • You may receive an error that pop-ups have been disabled for MyChart. This will prevent you from launching the video visit. If this happens: While using your phone or tablet, go to Settings > App Settings > MyChart > Allow/enable pop-ups
      • While using a computer, click the pop-up blocked notification > Allow all pop-ups from this website.
    • Connect to wi-fi and have a strong signal and check your audio video connection
    • For the best experience, make sure that you are in a quiet area and consider the use of headphones.
    • If you have any questions or concerns, please call your provider’s office directly.

E-Visit - Online Assessment

E-Visits are great for non-urgent issues where you can wait up to one business day for a response. After completing a brief online questionnaire, you will receive safe medical care through MyChart messaging without disrupting your day for an in-person or video visit.

All you need is a smartphone, tablet or a computer and a MyChart account and does not require audio or videoconferencing software. Available to existing Novant Health patients only.

The information you complete in the E-Visit questionnaire are typically evaluated by a care team provider from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

You can request an E-Visit with our on-demand providers 24/7, and your e-visit request will be addressed within 4 hours of when your request is made.

All providers will respond through MyChart with a treatment plan.

  7. From the options provided, select the reason you are requesting an E-Visit.

  8. Select the provider you would like to send your E-Visit to and select Continue.

  9. Make sure the information you selected is correct, then choose Confirm and proceed.
  10. Review and confirm your personal information, billing and insurance details, current medications and pharmacy preferences, allergies, and health issues.

  11. A questionnaire will appear based on the reason for your E-Visit. Answer the symptom-specific questions. Your responses help your provider better understand and treat your condition.

  12. Confirm your information and then click Submit.
  13. Once reviewed, you'll receive a notification and a new message in your MyChart inbox.

Note: If submitted during regular office hours your E-Visit will be reviewed by your primary care team within four hours. If submitted after hours they will be reviewed by a dedicated group of after hours providers.

  • All E-Visit requests are completed solely through MyChart messaging. There will be no physical contact for this type of visit request. If you feel that your concerns require physically talking with a provider or further examination, please request a video visit or in-person visit. Please pay close attention to your MyChart messages as the provider will communicate your treatment plan and or next steps through here.
  • An E-Visit is not a valid option if you have had an office visit for the same symptom(s) within the last 7 days.
  • A request for an E-Visit doesn't guarantee that a prescription will be given.
  • If you choose a member of your care team for your e-visit to go to you should receive a response to your e-visit request within one business day of when your request is made. If you have not received a response to your e-visit within one business day of your request, or if your symptoms worsen, you should seek immediate medical care from another provider, from a local hospital or by dialing 911. Request for e-visits cannot be accepted by a member of your care team when their office is closed to observe national holidays or when inclement weather or other conditions beyond our control prevent them from opening. However, you can request an E-Visit with our on-demand providers 24/7, and your e-visit request will be addressed within 4 hours of when your request is made.
