Lincoln watched in horror as his family, his support, his only home, shut the doors and practically of him in their family for good.

He felt his body shaking, not sure whether it was from his wet, cold pajamas that still cling to him, or the emptiness and heartbreak he just witness.

He knew he shouldn’t of lied for some free time sure, but seeing what became of this reminded just why he wanted the time on the first place.

It was like Sister Protocol all over again...only this time, he wasn’t allowed back in.

He didn’t even know now where he’d go, as there was no way that he could go back to the backyard and sleep in the leaves again, even if he didn’t want to do so in the first place.

He sighed, getting over his shock it seemed, manages to walk in his bare feet across the gravel of the street to Clyde’s house.

His mind seemed going through every worst situation of what could happen to him now as he knocked on his best friend’s door.

Why, or more like how can such a tiny lie come to this? Maybe Clyde could figure it out, maybe it was a psychological thing.

“Lincoln!” Clyde looked at his white haired brother in all but blood with horror. He read of kids being kidnapped, running away, but never he’d thought he’d see a somewhat similar look in his friend’s appearance.

Lincoln’s body shook like a leaf, water droplets dripped around him as he was in a pair of his usual orange pajamas, only this pair was soaked to the brim, possibly dirty of dirt.

But what scared Clyde was the boy’s eyes, it seemed nothing like he’s ever seen. Here was the most selfless, optimistic, happy eleven year old Clyde knew, but only saw betrayal, hurt, and overall lost of hope.

“Lincoln, what happened to you?” Clyde looked back at the Loud house behind Lincoln, only to see the place for once silent and dark, almost like the one in front of him.

“Clyde...” Lincoln’s voice was hoarse, then again he did just shouted in a bullhorn. He knew Clyde and his family had just came back from a trip to his grandparents, and couldn’t of possibly heard him, let alone seen what happened over the past couple of days.

That’s what made him feel ever worst....just how was he going to explain all this?

When Harold and Howard first heard Lincoln at the door, they didn’t seem at all fazed. Lincoln coming over was a usual in the McBride home, whether to hang out with Clyde, or just relax in some peace and quiet of the household.

When seeing Lincoln walk in looking like a abandoned/runaway kid, they knew something was wrong.

“Lincoln! Um what a nice surprise.” Harold smiles, though all could see how fake it was as the man was trying his hardest not to break down.

“Um hey Mr. and Mr. Mcbride...um is it okay if I stay here for a couple of days?”

Harold looked for sure now to break down, though luckily Howard saw and brought him to the kitchen, but not before giving the okay go Lincoln.

As soon as the pair heard the boys go up to Clyde’s room and shut the door, they began to talk.

“What do we do?! He has had to be kicked out of his house, who else would be soaked to the brim and dirt in his pajamas?!”

Howard quickly patted his partner’s shoulders and sighed, “Quiet, we don’t want them to hear.” Both stay put silently for a few moments, before sighing in relief as it seemed the kids weren’t listening in.

“Look Harold, we need to look into Lincoln’s parents first before we take any sort of action. Lincoln will stay here, hopefully explain what’s going on that made him come like this.”

Harold frowns and goes to the living room to sit on the couch, “But Howie, how could it become like this? Last time we saw him before we left for your parents, was him having fun and enjoying the day with his sisters.”

Howard nods as he sits next to him, “I don’t know Hare-bear, we can only hope this is one big misunderstanding. Otherwise, I’m defiantly calling the Child Protection Services.”

Meanwhile, said kids were sitting on Clyde’s bed next to each other. Lincoln was sobbing softly in Clyde’s arms, now though in a pair of Clyde’s pjs he offered to the white haired boy in replace of his soaked ones.

Clyde himself was in tears, questioning all he knew of Lincoln’s family, and just how one could do such a thing.

“I-It’s my fault Clyde....I deserved this.”

That’s what pushed Clyde over the edge, as he gets up and puts both of his hands on his brother’s shoulders tightly.

“NO! THIS IS NOT YOUR FAULT LINCOLN ORION LOUD! YOU LIED TO THEM SURE, BUT CONSIDERING WHAT THEY’VE BEEN LIKE YOU IN THE PAST, ALONGSIDE YOU GOING TO EVERY ONE OF THEIR ACTIVITIES, YET THEM MOCKING YOURS, ANYONE WOULD FEEL THE SAME TO WANT ALONE TIME AS MUCH AS YOU! THEY SHOULD OF NEVER GONE THIS FAR, AND EVEN SO IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT LINCOLN, IF ANYTHING IT’s LYNNS!”

When Clyde was done shouting his ears off, Clyde then went and hugged the boy with as much as he could muster, “No one deserves this Lincoln, no one does...”

For the rest of the day the two hanged out, playing video games and reading comics, both trying to process the events of what just happened.

To say Howard and Harold were angry was an understatement, they were FURIOUS.

They had gone across to the Louds and knocked on the door, hoping for some answers.

When the door opened, and both Rita and Lynn Sr. appeared, they quickly got to the point.

“Rita, my husband and I were wondering if your kids camped outside last night possibly?” Howard said, his voice mellow tone, despite seeing all the other kids just loudly hanging about, not at all looking as ragged as Lincoln came to them.

Rita shook her head confused, “No why?”

Harold took a deep breath, “Because Rita, it seems Lincoln appeared at our house in nothing but soaked pajamas and nothing more.”

Lynn Sr. frowned, at first the pair thought was on Lincoln’s condition, until he spoke, “Did you touch him at all? Did Clyde?”

Howard now was confused, “Uh, aside from getting him into to warm clothes, and giving him some food before he and Clyde went to Clyde’s room, no....” his brow fell, “why?”

Rita seem to sweat a bit as she smiled, “Well you see, Lincoln is bad luck, and while we are glad you two are back from your trip....”

Their next actions surprised the husbands, as both Rita and Lynn went inside their house, only to come back to them with sterile gloves one usual found at a hospital or doctor’s office, and pushed them off their porch.

They fell and hit their butts on the grass, looking in shock as both parents smiled now seemed more of a show then real emotion.

“So I’m going to have to ask you to not go on our property again...thank you.” With that the Loud parents shut the door, leaving both men now in anger as they left to their home.

“I can’t believe it! Their messed up! Did having eleven kids whack their brains of their sanity?!”

Harold didn’t even try and stop Howard from ranting, that is until he heard shouting upstairs.

“Howard, the kids.”

Howard turned to his partner, knowing something was off now that he heard, and both rushed to their son’s room.

They saw Clyde, was the one shouting, looking at his best friend with his hands gripping the boy’s shoulders.

“Clyde?! What’s going on?” Howard shouted, making both boys look at the man in shock, as the husbands rarely shouted, let alone at Clyde.

“Dads! You’ve got to hear what Lincoln’s gone through after we left! You’ll....you’ll.....”

Both adults saw Clyde in a rare moment was losing his calm demeanor(not that the shouting helped), so both of them came and hugged both boys.

“Listen whatever happened, we kind of got the gist of it from Lincoln’s parents.” Howard exclaimed, his voice softer now.

“Y-You spoke to them?” Lincoln mumbled under the hug.

Harold sighs, “Yes, and as soon as we finish this hug and get something to eat...my husband and I are calling the CPS.”

Lincoln didn’t need to think much to know what that mean, “No!”

Lincoln pushed away from the family as his eyes went wide in fear, “You can’t! My sisters will have to go to foster care! My parents could go to jail! I’ll...I’ll....I’ll be alone!” Lincoln felt tears flow down his face, but he didn’t care, breaking down of all the pain and suffering he faced of the week(which felt like years but he wasn’t counting).

Howard and Harold looked at each other, growing before turning to Lincoln as they placed each of their hands on Lincoln’s shoulders.

“Listen Lincoln, first, we have no choice, as there is no way we’re going to let you suffer and be abandon by your family on some sort of luck.” They noticed Lincoln flinching at that last part.

“And Lincoln your not alone, you got my dads and I, we’ll take care of you!” Clyde smiles softly, “We can even try and adopt some of your sisters! Or at the very least Lily, Lucy, and Leni....Though mainly on just how they acted in this mess.”

Lincoln wipes his tears with his hands and nods, “B-But why would you want me? Like they said, I’m bad luck.”

Clyde couldn’t believe as much as his parents did when Lincoln spoke. They knew now this wasn’t just child abandonment, but brainwashing as well.

“Lincoln, I don’t care how long it’ll take, but your wrong. You are NOT BAD LUCK, and no matter what those ‘people’ say, it isn’t true.” Howard exclaims, all knowing he was referring to the Louds as people. No way did he believe they should be called a family, let alone Lincoln’s, for what they’ve done.

Harold nods in agreement, “It’ll be okay Lincoln, you’ll see.”

It took awhile, three weeks it seemed, that things became a new normal.

Rita and Lynn Sr. were arrested, and are said to have a court trial later this week. Meanwhile the rest of the Louds were living with Pop-Pop, who sure didn’t make their stay too enjoyable.

They story of such a crime appeared nationwide, and to say Royal Woods residents were angry was again, an understatement.

Luckily the police handled everything, and the community instead went and pinched in and got Lincoln all new furniture and school supplies.

Lincoln was being taken care of at this time with the McBride’s, and honestly felt like one big, long sleepover then possible change in guardianship(unsure whether Pop-Pop might get the guardianship or not). Still, it was much better then Lincoln dreamed he would have at the aftermath of this bad luck event.

Still, while he had doubts and guilt of the whole situation, he knew in time he’d heal, alongside Clyde and his dads, one day at a time.
