Having varieties of chips in our lifestyle is one of our main struggles. Chips that fit into our macros are either hardly available or are so expensive even in Costco.
But the best part – you can make your own. Whether you pick cheese, vegetables, protein, or mix them all, you can make an unbelievable selection of keto-friendly chips. And they can always be ready in your pantry for whenever you crave them.
What Chips are Keto Friendly?
If you have been following our blog for a while, you might have seen that I have already experimented with various ways you can make multiple crunchy keto snacks in our lifestyle.
Our most popular is, of course, keto zucchini chips with smoked paprika chips, wild garlic chips, and cucumber chips to stay within the vegetable zone.
Then we have some low-carb snacks you can mix up using just a few ingredients, such as Tortilla Chips or Cloud Egg Crisps.
Cheese Chips
You probably would agree that chips made with cheese are one of the most popular. And therefore, I have already made heaps of recipes for you.
Starting from the best Keto Popcorn – Low Carb Cheese Pops or transferring cheddar cheese into Keto Goldfish Crackers for the best popping experience in your oven.
We have it all. Followed by Keto Cheese Bacon Nachos, Fried Cheese Balls, Chaffle Chips, Cheese Puffs, or Keto Cheese Bacon Chips.
And all I can say is I am still just starting. As I already see, in about a few years, we will have so many choices of keto crunchy snacks you would not be able to bake them all.

How Many Carbs are in a Cheese Crisps?
Because of only cheese involved and a few pieces of low-carb toppings, you would not have to count those chips into carbohydrate calculations.
Our cheese chips contain 0 carbohydrates.

The type of cheese you pick is up to you. Different variations of sliced cheese exist, and all of them will become a perfect crunchy deliciousness.
What type of cheese is best to use
You can pick from different cheeses for chips, such as
- Cheddar Cheese Chips

What type of Cheese slices to use for Keto Chips?
You can use almost any cheese slices you find in the supermarket. I have tried it already with Emmental Cheese, Gouda, and Cheddar. They all came perfectly.
The only difference might be in the taste and baking time as some cheeses could be thicker or thinner and might take a bit longer to crisp up.
Just try to avoid cheese, which is spreadable, because that would not crisp in a short time.
Flavor Variations
As I have already baked those quite a few times, I have experimented with almost anything.
I gave it all to my family and friends to taste, and pickles and olive won.
- Pickles or Gherkins give that additional sourness and a bit of spiciness if you use spicy ones.
- Olives, while this was my daughter’s favorite. And I also loved the color of the Keto Chips with Olives.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAKING THE BEST KETO CHEESE CHIPS
First Step: Prepare Ingredients
Prepare your ingredients. In our case, it is slices of cheddar cheese together with gherkins and olives.
Cut both pickles as well as olives into small slices.
Second Step: Heat the oven
Heat the Oven to 170 Celsius or 340 Fahrenheit.
Third Step: Cheese
Place slices evenly onto the baking sheet covered with parchment paper.
Fourth Step: Toppings
Place a few pieces of gherkins and olives onto the cheese slices.
Fifth Step: Bake
Place into the oven and bake for approximately 15 minutes until crunchy. Let your slices cool before touching. They will become more crispy as they cool down.

Can you make Cheese Chips in the Microwave?
You certainly can, even though this is not the healthiest option. Additionally, once you make cheese slices in the microwave, they can either become soggy or rock hard. So if you do choose this option, watch it.
Can you make keto chips in the air fryer?
Air Fryer is another option. Follow the instructions of your air fryer and bake them into crispiness.
How to store Cheese Crisps?
Like all the cheesy chips, I store them in an air-tight container. It is good to line the container with tissue to take the moisture out while stored.
If you experience sogginess after a while, just pop them into the oven for a few minutes on low heat for them to crisp again.
Do Keto Cheese Chips need to be refrigerated?
If you make plain cheese chips only with dry seasonings, you do not have to refrigerate them. The last in your air-tight container for a week.
But if you are adding one of the fresh condiments such as pickles or olives like in our case, I would for sure refrigerate them to avoid getting your toppings spoiled.
How long can you store Cheese Chips?
Those cheese chips do last a pretty long time. 1-2 weeks should be ok to store them. But depending on what condiments you use and how dry they become after baking. If you like some condiments a bit soft, I would try and consume them as soon as possible.
Can you reheat Cheese Chips?
You can reheat your crisps, which is precisely what I suggest, especially when cheese chips become a bit soggy.
Otherwise, I do not see any other reason you would try reheating those keto cheese chips. They are typically eaten cold and already crisp.
What if Cheese Chips become soggy?
Just spread them onto a baking sheet and leave them in the oven for 10 – 15 minutes at a low temperature. This way, they will dry again and take out all of the moisture. They will again become perfectly crispy.
Can you freeze cheese Chips?
You can freeze your cheese chips, although they taste the best fresh. And as it is really quick and easy to prepare, you can make them anytime you wish in just a few minutes.
