The following contains spoilers for One Piece Chapter 1080, "The Hero of Legend," by Eiichiro Oda, Stephen Paul and Vanessa Satone, available in English from Viz Media.
Chapter 1079 of One Piece brings fans some much-anticipated action from a fan-favorite Emperor: Red-Haired Shanks. However, before that, the chapter reveals how the traitorous York executes her vile plan of betrayal, including her motivation. It turns out that she wouldn't have cared if only the Stella or the other Satellites are being targeted, but since the World Government is also aiming for her head, she is forced to act on her own. She uses the Seraphim to sabotage her companions' safety, even going as far as feigning her own death. She also asks the Seraphim to eliminate everyone standing in her way except the Stella and the Cipher Pol hostages.
Back in Elbaph, Shanks' affiliates try to warn Kid and his pirate crew not to mess with the Emperor. Kid, however, can't be bothered with them. The young pirate pulls out his Damned Punk and aims it at them. This triggers Shanks' Color of Observation Haki, giving him a dreadful vision of a future filled with death. As such, the Emperor immediately takes action. He takes down Kid with a single strike, after which the two Giants Dorry and Brogy sink the Kid Pirates' ship with their signature joint attack. Shanks once again proves that pointing a gun at someone is always a serious matter.

After showing the Emperor Red-Haired Shanks in Elbaph, Chapter 1080 brings the narrative back to Fullalead in New World, Blackbeard's main base of operations. Apparently, the captured Captain Koby manages to escape, to the delight of the other pirates. His escape means that he is no longer Blackbeard's, allowing them to re-capture him and earn his bounty. The Cross Guild has given him a five-star bounty, which translates to 500 million berries -- five times the usual bounty for Marine captains. That being said, some pirates have already begun their move.
A certain group is already monitoring Koby's movements, who is much slower due to the iron ball shackled to his ankle. In addition to that, he has also been helping and freeing the other captives. Avalo Pizarro, a corrupt king who has eaten the Isle-Isle Fruit, reports on Koby's actions to Shiryu, the swordsman of the Blackbeard Pirates. Shiryu asks him why he hasn't taken care of them, and the king tells him that he simply didn't want to wreck the island. As such, another heinous character volunteers. Vasco Shot, the one who ate the Glug-Glug Fruit, suggests burning down the entire town. However, Pizarro is against the idea, as it will likely irk Blackbeard.

Meanwhile, Koby is trying to shake off his pursuers, though to no avail. He knows that losing them all is impossible, so he settles for simply distracting them until the others escape. Just then, a flashback occurs. Blackbeard tells Koby about his plans. He wants to turn Fullalead into a legitimate country allied with the World Government. Of course, Koby isn't buying the idea. He knows that a country filled with criminals has no chance of manifesting. Blackbeard, however, is adamant. After all, he has Koby as his bargaining chip. Even so, Koby assures him that his plan won't fly.
Koby relays to Teech that he is a member of SWORD, piquing Kuzan's interest. The former admiral tells his new captain to give up on the idea. He then educates the others on what it means to be a member of SWORD. These special agents are apparently Navy but also not Navy at the same time; they are akin to officers who have resigned from their positions, thus gaining liberty. They can do whatever they want without any consequence from the higher-ups. Unfortunately, that also means that they receive no backing from the World Government. However, Blackbeard doesn't give up.
It turns out that the one who freed Koby from confinement is no other than Perona the Ghost Princess -- although of course, not without something in exchange. Perona asks Koby to free Moria after she frees him, to which Koby obviously agrees. While running around, Koby hears about three Marine sailors wreaking havoc at the port. Those three are of course none other than Koby's comrades, who are also members of SWORD.

First up is Kujaku, Tsuru's granddaughter and wielder of the Whip-Whip Fruit. Then there's Hibari, who somehow manages to turn the pirates' rounds into flowers, saving Koby from a possible rain of bullets. She also seems to have some feelings for the young officer. Finally, there's Prince Grus. He has eaten the Glorg-Glorg Fruit, turning him into a clay-man. His powers, however, seem to be more about the production of golems than turning himself into clay.
Right after their introduction, a Navy battleship goes flying toward where Koby is, shocking both pirates and Marines alike. On board that very ship is none other than the legendary Vice Admiral Garp, who has also brought Helmeppo and Tashigi with him. At first, the pirates are in shock as they see the gigantic ship hurtling toward them. However, their shock immediately turns into panic as they realize that the person aboard is Garp himself, the hero of the legend. They start scuttling around, hoping to flee to safety.
Unfortunately for them, there are no escape routes from the square. Garp then decides to take this opportunity to unleash his wrath. He first makes sure to call the pirates' attention, then launches his very destructive Galaxy Impact toward the town, razing it to the ground. However, before that, he lectures the pirates about their wrongdoings. He verbosely asks them what they think they are doing, then proceeds to brag about Koby being his protégé. Not only that, but he also goes as far as to claim that the young Marine is the future of the Navy in One Piece.
