  • Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship

    Training Program Length: 15 months

    Launch your pharmacy career with Ochsner Health's new pharmacy technician training program. This apprenticeship is a 15-month paid training program in which participants will be fully licensed as Ochsner pharmacy technicians.

    Typical duties include organizing medications for pharmacists to dispense, preparing labels, calculating quantities, assembling intravenous solutions and other pharmaceutical therapies and maintaining records.

  • Patient Care Technician Training

    Training Program Length: 8 weeks

    Start a new healthcare career as a patient care technician (PCT)! Ochsner Health's new free training program is instructor-led with supervised clinical activities. This is a comprehensive 8-week tuition-free program for eligible candidates. Many nurses and other healthcare professionals start their careers as patient care technicians. Ochsner Health is the perfect place for PCTs to grow their healthcare careers.

    Provide direct patient care under supervision of a licensed healthcare provider. Duties include taking a patient’s vitals, maintaining patients’ rooms, providing updates to nursing staff and communicating with patients and their families.

  • Surgical Tech Apprenticeship

    Training Program Length: 24 months

    Surgical techs work under the supervision of a surgeon to facilitate safe and effective invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.

  • Sterile Processing Technician

    Training Program Length: 8 months

    Sterile processing technicians play a critical role in preventing infection by sterilizing, cleaning, processing, assembling, storing and distributing medical supplies.

  • Nursing Pre-Apprenticeship

    Training Program Length: 3 years of high school and 12-15 months of nursing school. The program starts in the students high schoolsophom*ore (grade ten) year and runs through completion of nursing school.

    The nursing pre-apprenticeship is a nursing training program, in which students will be involved in career exploration, essential business skills, group projects and summer internships. The students will be enrolled in dual enrollment prerequisite classes, at Delgado Charity School of Nursing. Upon high school graduation, the students will have the choice to enroll in the Delgado Charity School of Nursing and be given the opportunity to interview for transition into a paid apprenticeship with Ochsner Health. Students will have the decision on either a practical nursing or registered nursing track.

  • MA Now

    Training Program Length: 6 months

    Medical assistants provide direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider. Duties include scheduling and receiving patients, preparing and maintaining medical records, liaising between physicians and other healthcare professionals, taking patient histories and vital signs, collecting and processing specimens and assisting the licensed healthcare provider with examinations.

    MA Now -Successful graduates of this program in partnership with Northshore Technical Community College will achieve a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification, to include BLS.

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

    Training Program Length: 12 weeks

    The certified nursing assistant program provides instructions on maintaining patient safety and provide for delivery of basic patient care. CNA’s provide constant observation of the patient, performs functions delegated by nursing staff and supports plan of care.

  • Community Health Worker

    Training Program Length: 12 months

    This role supports the caring of the whole patient to ensure total physical, social and mental well-being. A community health worker supports achieving health equity amongst our entire Ochsner population and larger communities. As part of the care team, they work to address a patient’s social determinants of health through low-tier case management.
