What is MyChart and How Does it Make Managing my Health Easier?
Our new electronic health record, Epic, allows you to access information about the care you receive at any St. Mary's facility or Medical Group office in one patient portal called MyChart.
St. Mary's Health Care System is a member of Trinity Health, one of the nation’s largest Catholic health systems. Our new patient portal is integrated with other member hospitals and providers from across the country.
St. Mary's changed its electronic health record system in October 2022. MyChart may not have all historical visit information and test results available for visits that occurred before this date. Our previous patient portals are still accessible but as read-only.

MyChart offers you personalized and secure online access to your medical records. With MyChart, you can:

- Request prescription refills
- Access trusted health information resources

- Confirm your appointment and electronically check-in to complete pre-visit paperwork online before your appointment
- Get care through e-visits and video visits
- Download the Trinity Health MyChart app to keep track of your health using your smart phone and/or tablet. Please note: some features are not available when accessing your account via the app.
MyChart is the patient portal associated with Epic. Epic is the preferred electronic health record used by healthcare organizations across the nation.
Why is St. Mary's changing its electronic health record system?
We want to continue to make the healthcare experience easier for you, our patients. Our new electronic health record, Epic, will allow patients to view their records and test results from any Mount Carmel facility at any time, plus do things like pay bills, all in one easy-to-use patient portal.
How do I sign up for MyChart?
You can sign up for MyChart at any time by visiting the MyChart page. Trinity Health offers a self-service sign up for those who do not have an activation code. If the information entered matches the information we have in our system exactly as it appears, you will receive an email containing an access code. If it doesn’t match you can verify your information through a third-party vendor.
I already have a MyChart account with another health care system, do I need to create a new one?
If your MyChart account is with a different health care system, you will need to create a new account specific to our health system. MyChart is utilized by many health care providers and systems throughout the country. Fortunately, if you have an active patient portal account at another organization that uses MyChart, you will be able to link your accounts.
How do I link all of my MyChart accounts?
You can access all of your MyChart healthcare accounts from one place using a single username and password with MyChartCentral. MyChartCentral also provides you access to Lucy, a personal health record that gives you a permanent home to organize all your medical information. To link your accounts and get access to Lucy, please follow the instructions below.
- Log into your MyChart account
- Under Sharing in the menu on the left, click Link My Accounts
- Follow on-screen instructions
How do I download my health information from myHealth patient portal?
If you had a myHealth patient portal with our health system, some of your historical health information will be transferred over a period of time to your MyChart account and be visible to you. Your provider will have access to your entire record. New information from visits after October 29, 2022, including prescription refills, visit notes and lab results will be in your MyChart patient portal. You will still be able to access your historical medical information in read-only view through your old patient portal, but no new information will be added. To download your health information, please follow the instructions below.
- Once you have logged into your myHealth patient portal click on myHealth Record
- From the menu that appears below that, select Download & Send
- You’ll be taken to a page that will allow you to search specific dates of care or select specific Care Summaries to either download or send. Click the Download or the Send button next to each Care Summary to either download that record to your device or forward it to a provider
How do I download my health information from myDoctor’s Office patient portal?
If you had a myDoctor's Office patient portal with our health system, some of your historical health information will be transferred over a period of time to your MyChart account and be visible to you. Your provider will have access to your entire record. New information from visits after October 29, 2022, including prescription refills, visit notes and lab results will be in your MyChart patient portal. You will still be able to access your historical medical information in read-only view through your old patient portal, but no new information will be added. To download your health information, please follow the instructions below.
- Once you have logged into your myHealth patient portal click on myHealth Record
- Then click on either download or transmit your health data. We suggest download
- Then fill out the prompts. You’ll be asked to Select the health information you want (including specific times, dates, and documents) and Choose what you’d like to do with your information (Download, Email or Send via Direct Address)
Who can have a MyChart account?
You must be 12 or older to use MyChart. Individuals 12 to 17 years of age must have parental or guardian consent or be an emancipated minor.
Can I have access to my child's records through my MyChart account? What about another adult's records?
Yes, you may access some family members record, depending on your relationship. Proxy access allows a parent, guardian, or power of attorney to log in to their personal MyChart account, and then connect to information regarding their family member. Complete a Proxy Consent Form through your health care provider to request access to this convenient service.
Is there a fee to use MyChart?
No. MyChart is a free service offered to our patients.
What are the computer requirements to use MyChart?
You will need a computer or mobile device that can connect to the Internet and an up-to-date browser, such as Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Safari or Firefox.

Using MyChart
How do I send a message about basic, non-urgent questions on MyChart?
MyChart provides an easy way to ask your doctor basic, non-urgent questions using secure electronic messaging. To message your provider please follow the steps below.
In MyChart:
- Go to Menu > Communications > Messages
- Select “Send A Message”
- Identify your type of message (Medical Question or Customer Service Question)
- Continue steps on-screen based on your message needs. Press "Send" when complete

What kind of health care information will I be able to see on MyChart?
MyChart provides you with a summary of your health information based on your doctor's entries in your patient portal. You can view your future and past appointments, test results, current health issues, medications you are taking, allergies, immunizations and medical history.
How will MyChart help me stay better connected to my doctor and my health?
MyChart provides an easy way to ask your doctor basic, non-urgent questions using secure electronic messaging. This way you can receive an answer without repeated calls. Having a convenient summary of your health information, such as when you are due for preventive tests like a mammogram or prostate exam, helps you be a more active partner in maintaining and improving your health.

Can I pay my bill online?
Yes. With MyChart Bill Pay, you’ll have access to make secure payments right through the MyChart application. You’ll receive a confirmation message in your MyChart message center. You do not have to have a MyChart account to pay your bill.
Is there a charge to pay my bill online?
No, there is no charge to use our MyChart Bill Pay functionality.
