One of the best part of major league baseball is all of the different types of stadium designs and dimensions throughout the league.
Let’s look at the dimensions down both lines, gaps, and center field as well as the seating capacity for each park.
We will also include the current name of the stadium, when it was built and any unique or defining characteristics. Here we go…

Dimensions: Left – 335 Left Center – 412 Center – 407 Right Center – 412 Right – 335. Currently named Chase Field and opened in 1998 with a capacity of 48,686.
This field is known for being air conditioned, having a retractable roof, and of course, a fully functional swimming pool in the outfield stands. While this is one of my least favorite major league baseball parks, it is one that you should put on your bucket list to visit. The retractable roof, swimming pool, and size of this stadium are worth visiting in person.
Atlanta Braves (Truist Park)

Dimensions: Left – 335 Left Center – 385 Center – 400 Right Center – 375 Right – 325. Currently named Truist Park and opened in 2017 with a capacity of 41,084.
The Atlanta Braves moved from the larger Turner Field in downtown Atlanta into a more snug Truist Field that has numerous shopping and dining experiences built into and around the ballpark. I have heard nothing but great reviews on the new Braves stadium and am going to try and make a game in the next couple of years. Turner Field was tough to get to and was way too big for a baseball field, and Truist Park looks like the perfect venue for watching a game.
Baltimore Orioles (Camden Yards)

Dimensions: Left – 333 Left Center – 398 Center – 400 Right Center – 373 Right – 318. Oriole Park at Camden Yards opened in 1992 and has a capacity of 44,970.
This stadium is located in downtown Baltimore and big home runs will commonly travel out of the stadium into the streets and brick buildings in the area. Camden Yards is one of those timeless stadiums that looks beautiful year and year out for the Baltimore Orioles.
Boston Red Sox (Fenway Park)

Dimensions– Left – 310 Left Center – 379 Center – 389 Right Center – 380 Right – 302. Fenway Park, built in 1912 is the oldest standing, one of the most unique and the most visited baseball stadium in the world with a capacity of 37,755. Fenway is known for its “Green Monster” in left field, which is a 37 foot high wall that you must hit over for a homerun and home to the Boston Red Sox.
There are seats atop the Green Monster and additionally a manually operated scoreboard at the base. I went to a game at Fenway Park about 8 years ago and it was an awesome experience. The park is much smaller then you would expect and feels like you are sitting right on top of the field. Another great thing about this park is the variety of bars and restaurants within short walking distance of the field.
Chicago Cubs (Wrigley Field)

Dimensions– Left – 355 Left Center – 368 Center – 400 Right Center – 368 Right – 353. Wrigley Field is another legendary stadium, built in 1914 with a capacity of 41,649.
Wrigley is known for having ivy growing on its outfield walls which hide a brick wall. The Chicago Cubs have played at Wrigley field since 1914 and it is right up there with Fenway for me as my top favorite stadium.
Chicago White Sox (Guaranteed Rate Field)

Dimensions– Left – 330 Left Center – 375 Center – 400 Right Center – 375 Right – 335. Currently, Guaranteed Rate Field, opened in 1991 and has the worst name of a stadium in modern sports with a capacity of 40,615 and is home to the Chicago White Sox. This stadium is about as lame as its name, and features nothing spectacular.
Cincinatti Reds (Great American Ballpark)

Dimensions– Left – 328 Left Center – 379 Center – 404 Right Center – 370 Right – 325. Great American Ballpark opened in 2003 for the Cincinattii Reds with a capacity of 42,319.
This stadium is known for being a hitter friendly ballpark with the shorter than normal distance down the lines.
Cleveland Guardians (Progressive Field)
Dimensions– Left – 325 Left Center – 370 Center – 405 Right Center – 375 Right – 325. Progressive Field opened in 1994 for the Cleveland Indians and has a capacity of 34,830.
It has nearly symmetrical dimensions and won best ballpark in a 2008 Sports Illustrated fan poll.
Colorado Rockies (Coors Field)

Dimensions– Left – 333 Left Center – 366 Center – 423 Right Center – 400 Right – 370. Coors Field opened in 1995 and has a capacity of 50,144.
Due to the high elevation in Denver, this is the largest stadium in baseball which was intentionally designed in an effort to negate the thin air and the ball traveling further than anywhere else. Even still, Coors Field is a very hitter friendly ballpark and is home to the Colorado Rockies.
Detroit Tigers (Comerica Park)

Comerica Park was opened in 2000 and has a capacity of 41,083 for the Detroit Tigers. Comerica Park is currently the only field in MLB with a dirt strip from the mound to home plate.
Houston Astros (Minute Maid Park)

Minute Maid Park was opened in 2000 with a capacity of 41,168 for the Houston Astros.
Like the Arizona stadium, this ballpark has a retractable roof and air conditioning to avoid summer Texas heat.
Kansas City Royals (Kauffman Stadium)

It is touted alongside Dodger Stadium as having a modernist design built specifically for baseball.
Los Angeles Angels (Angel Stadium of Anaheim)

Nicknamed “The Big A”, Barry Bonds hit the longest home run ever here off of Troy Percival during the 2002 World Series. Tim Salmon is on camera remarking about it, “That’s the farthest ball I’ve ever seen hit.”
Los Angeles Dodgers (Dodger Stadium)

Dimensions– Left – 330 Left Center – 385 Center – 395 Right Center – 385 Right – 330. Dodger Stadium was built in 1962 and has a capacity of 56,000 for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The dimensions are perfectly symmetrical and is commonly known as a “pitcher’s ballpark.” 13 no hitters, two of which were perfect games, have occurred here.
Miami Marlins (LoanDepot Park)

Certified as the “greenest” ballpark in MLB, features a retractable roof and is the 3rd smallest amongst MLB stadiums.
Milwaukee Brewers (Miller Park)

Dimensions- Left – 315 Left Center – 392 Center – 402 Right Center – 392 Right – 315. Miller Park when it was built in 2001, is now American Family Field, and hosts a capacity of 41,900 for the Milwaukee Brewers.
This ballpark features the only fan shaped convertible roof in MLB, made of glass panes so natural grass can grow year round.
Minnesota Twins (Target Field)

In 2010 ESPN The Magazine ranked Target Field as the number one baseball stadium experience in North America and is home to the Minnesota Twins.
New York Mets (Citi Field)

Brought over from the Mets old ballpark, Shea Stadium, is the Home Run Apple which rises every time the home team hits a home run and is home to the New York Mets.
New York Yankees (Yankee Stadium)

This ballpark is ridiculously hitter-friendly as it’s a chip shot down the lines at 318 and 314. Getting out to a New York Yankee game is at the top of my bucket list.
Oakland Athletics (RingCentral Coliseum)

Dimensions- Left – 330 Left Center – 388 Center – 400 Right Center – 388 Right – 330RingCentral Coliseum opened in 1966 and currently has a capacity of 56,782, not including the upper deck which has been closed for years.
The original Coliseum was a decent ballpark for baseball, and when the Raiders wanted to use it for football it was renovated to fit the capacity Al Davis required (Late Raiders owner) and pretty much made the stadium horrible for baseball.
This is easily the worst stadium in MLB. The Oakland Athletics are potentially moving down to Las Vegas so if you want to check this park out try to do it within the next couple of years.
Pittsburgh Pirates (PNC Park)

Dimensions – Left – 325 Left Center – 383 Center – 399 Right Center – 375 Right – 320 PNC Park opened in 2001 with a capacity of 38,747.
Overlooking the Allegheny River and bridge beyond center field, PNC Park is considered by many as one of the best ballparks in MLB. I have heard from numerous friends that travel the country that PNC Park is the best park in all of baseball.
The views of this stadium are incredible and I can’t wait to make it out for a game soon.
Philadelphia Phillies (Citizens Bank Park)

This stadium hosts an interactive arcade are where virtual and live games can be played for prizes and is home to the Philadelphia Phillies.
San Francisco Giants (Oracle Park)

Oracle Park features an unusually shaped right field, a tall brick wall that is 415 feet to deep right center, appropriately coined triples alley, as the ball can get lost back in that corner, kareem off the wall, any number of things, while keeping the baseball in the ballpark.
San Diego Padres (Petco Park)

Petco Park was known as an extreme pitcher friendly park for the first stretch and in 2012 the fences were moved in all the way around to try and make up for this. The San Diego Padres call Petco Park home and it is another one of the most scenic parks in baseball.
Seattle Mariners (T-Mobile Park)

This ballpark is known as a “retro modern” stadium incorporating traditional styles like brick facade and an asymmetrical design, while also featuring a retractable roof with natural grass for the hometown Seattle Mariners.
St. Louis Cardinals (Busch Stadium)

This is a Populous designed “retro classic” field which features the view of downtown St. Louis, most notably the arch, in center field.
Tampa Bay Rays (Tropicana Field)

This stadium is the only non-retractable dome in MLB and every so often a ball will hit the roof of the dome during play. It can lead to a quite entertaining sequence of events.
Texas Rangers (Globe Life Park)

Globe Life Field opened in 2020 with a capacity of 40,300 and is home to the Texas Rangers.
This ballpark features a retractable dome with air conditioning and artificial turf and is down by the Cowboys stadium in Arlington Texas.
Toronto Blue Jays (Rogers Centre)

Nationals Park opened in 2008 and has a capacity of 41,339 and is home to the Washington Nationals. This ballpark is mostly symmetrical, and the main means of transportation to and from the stadium is the Washington Metro system.
