Residential Meal Plan FAQs

Can I change or cancel my plan?

Students will have one full week after academic classes begin to change their meal plan. If you decide that you would like to upgrade your plan after the deadline, you may do so by contacting housing.

Where do I change my meal plan?

Lake Superior Hall Business Office located in Lake Superior Hall.

Does my meal plan transfer over on my new contract if I move from a Residence Hall to an Apartment?

No. If you would like to still have a meal plan, you would have to request that plan through the Housing Office.

What Are Bonus Meals?

Bonus meals (2 per semester) are part of the residential unlimited and 14 meals per week plans and can be redeemed in Superior Dining for your guests.

Who is eligible forStudent Block Meal Plans?

These meal plans are available for all students who are not on a residential meal plan.

Why should I buy the block plan?

It is convenient (access with your Ucard), flexible, and saves you money.

Is there a limit to how many meals we can get per day?

Nope, no limit. They are your meals to use whenever you want. Once you run out of meals you are welcome to buy more as often as you'd like.

Can we “swipe someone in” with us if we go to Superior Dining? (Example: So 2 meal swipes, 2 people)

Yep! The Block Plans totally give you that flexibility. Let's say you buy the 10-meal Block Plan. If you want to use all 10 of those meals on onetrip to treat a group of people that is 100% your choice.

Where does this plan work?

The Block Meal Plan is accepted at all Dining Services locations which includes: Plaza Food Court, Superior Dining, The Grind, and Northern Shores Coffee Shop.

Can I buy a plan after the start of the fall semester?

Yes, you may buy a block meal plan at any time.

Can I roll the balance of my meal plan over from year to year?

All block meal plans can roll over from semester to semester for up to 2 years after purchase.

Can I get a refund for unused meals?

No. In most circumstances, refunds are not allowed.

Who decides what is a “meal”?

Meal exchanges will be determined by location and Dining Dollars, cash, or credit cards can be used for purchases outside of these parameters.

Where can I use Dining Dollars?

Dining Dollars are accepted in all of our venues and on GET Mobile Ordering.

Where can I check my Dining Dollars balance?

Students can check their account balances for meal plans, Dining Dollars, and campus cash using the GET app. A link can be foundhereon the UCard site. We can also provide your balance at any Dining Services cash register.

What are Dining Dollars?

Dining Dollars are part of your Meal Plan and are flex spending on your UCard allowing you to dine in our retail areas, such as the Northern Shores Coffee Shop, the Plaza Food Court, and our new Kiosk by the Library (Coming Fall 2021).

Who is eligible for the Staff and Faculty Meal Plan?

Anyone who works for the University of Minnestoa Duluth. If you are a studuent worker you are eligible a residential or off-campus meal plan.
