- ITV confirm The Bay will return for series 5
Marsha and the team are coming back for more.
ITV has confirmed that The Bay will return for another series.
The coastal crime drama wrapped up its fourth series last month, which saw Marsha Thomason's DS Jenn Townsend and the team investigate a case of arson and attempted murder that turned out to be a lot more complicated and emotionally devastating than initially expected.
The fifth series, which will begin filming later this year, will see Jenn and co try and deal with a new case surrounding a bitterly divided family, and find themselves walking on eggshells to keep everyone working together to get to the truth.

Thomason and the rest of the regular cast are expected to return, with further casting announcements set to come in due course.
ITV's Head of Drama, Polly Hill said in a statement: "We're delighted to be returning to Morecambe for another series of The Bay. The series is a huge success story for ITV and we're grateful to [executive producer] Catherine Oldfield, [co-creator/writer] Daragh Carville and the team at Tall Story Pictures for continuing to create compelling stories and characters."
Oldfield added: "Daragh and I couldn't be happier to be heading back to Morecambe with Marsha and the team for another case. We love making the show and so we're delighted to be producing another series for ITV and viewers at home and abroad."

When series 4 was being promoted in the lead up to release, there was a lot of focus on scenes where the characters lamented the budget cuts to the police department.
That might have led to people thinkingthere was a link to real life and that the show itself was wrapping up, but Thomason recently told Digital Spy that "[ITV] want these shows to go on as long as possible".
All four series of The Bay so far are available to stream on ITVX.
