Does UCR offer single dorms? ›

Glen Mor offers single-occupancy rooms in two- and four-bedroom floor plans and is home to more than 1,300 residents (sophom*ores and beyond).

The best dorm at UC Riverside is undoubtedly Dundee. The facilities at Dundee are all very new, and the furniture and lounges are all much more modern than the other residence halls. The second-best dorm, in my opinion, is a tie between Pentland and Lothian, depending on your living preferences.

Applying For Housing

Assignments are made on a first-come, first-served basis. We recommend that you apply for on-campus housing immediately after submitting your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) to UCR.

Living in a single is a different kind of dorm experience with its own benefits and disadvantages. Many colleges, like the University of Houston, University of Colorado and UCLA, don't allow freshman year students to live in a single because they want new students to experience life with a roommate.

Just to elaborate, individual rooms are generally of one sex, but the halls may be mixed. That is to say in a single room all occupants would be all male or all female, but there may be 20 rooms per hall and thus the hall can have 20 rooms of all male, or 10 male and 10 female rooms.

The price of the contract rate varies depending on whether the student will live in a triple, double or single dorm, and which meal plan a student chooses. UCLA classic dorms are furnished and come with basic cable TV service and computer network connections.

USC has three suite-style buildings: two on campus and one in USC Village. Suite floor plans vary by building and are made up of two to four rooms, either single or double occupancy with one large or two smaller bathrooms.
