Lucky Dog Animal Rescue
Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned animals, primarily dogs from high-kill shelters and owners who can no longer care for them. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities, we are able to rescue hundreds of animals every year, provide them with loving temporary care, and find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes. We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition.

CROCODILLY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:Crocodilly Best Guess for Breed:Feist and terrier mix Best Guess for Age:2 years as of August 2024 Gender:Male Approximate Weight:9 lbs Gets Along With:Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested Currently Living At:Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus. Needs a foster or forever home in the DC area after completing heartworm treatment! Special Adoption Considerations:Crocodilly is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months. We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left! Crocodilly is Looking For:His forever home! This cutie hasn't seen nearly enough of the world yet. He's eager to get his own humans for sniffy walks and romps in parks and all the adventures they dream up. And his size is a huge plus - if he can't scramble over boulders, he can easily be toted over!He also wants to make pup and people pals along the way, quality kibble, and a cushy dog bed. But you know what he wants most of all? To know he's safe and loved and under his own roof. In exchange, he promises adoring gazes and snuggles and loyal companionship. What do you say? Is there a Crocodilly-shaped gap in your lap and your life? What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with his foster. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
