A sweet, crunchy treat with the perfect mix of sugar and cinnamon - these roasted almonds are a wonderful gifts for the holidays, or great to snack on any time of year!

Cinnamon Roasted Almonds

The smell of cinnamon is thick in the air... you start to look around for the source and your eyes fall on the cinnamon roasted almonds vendor. You slowly make your way towards the booth, trying to control the amount of saliva forming as you think about devouring the delicious morsels in front of you (you fail, of course).

You place your order and pay the outrageous fee for the sweet and crunchy treat and move along to enjoy your prize in peace.

We've all been there. Whether it's at a state fair, county fair, a renaissance festival, or even an antique show, you can hardly go anywhere without encountering cinnamon roasted almonds!

After paying over $15 for less than a cup of nuts at one fateful antique show I came home determined to figure out how to make my own.

Turns out making your own cinnamon roasted almonds at home is easy and WAY cheaper than you might think!

Step One:

Wash and prep your almonds.

While this step is optional, for me it's a must since without it your almonds may be a little gritty!

Prep a baking tray by lining it with parchment paper for the hot almonds when they are ready!

Step Two:

Combine water, sugar, and cinnamon in a large skillet or pot and bring to a boil.

Add almonds and stir well.

Step Three:

Continue stirring constantly until the sugar turns powdery. This may take about 10-15 minutes.

Transfer the almonds immediately to the parchment lined baking tray.

They will being to harden very quickly, so act fast!!

Step Four:

You can eat them as soon as they aren't boiling hot, but they won't be crunchy yet.

Allow the cinnamon roasted almonds to cool fully before storing or packing into gift boxes.

NOTE: If you find that your almonds are not as crunchy as you'd like, place the baking tray in the oven at 250° for an hour. Remove a few almonds and let them cool a bit to test.

Continue until the nuts are as crisp as you'd like!

Step Five (for gift giving):

If you're planing to gift these delicious cinnamon almonds, I have a few gift tags available below for you to use!

We printed a bunch of tags, then cut them and placed them on these craft paper treat boxes for an easy gift!

I would recommend putting some tissue in the box before you add the almonds. Just one sheet of tissue paper like a liner helps to keep the oil on the almonds from causing grease spots on the boxes.
