Best Recipe For Scrambled Eggs (1)

This was one of those recipes, I just felt like (as a mom) I really needed to dominate. To have locked and loaded, under my belt, ready to pull out and whip up to perfection at the drop of a hat. Scrambled eggs area prettygreat way to start the morning: low maintenance, so, so fast and they make for a healthy andprotein-packedbreakfast.

The thing is, scrambled eggs seem like a very simple dish, however, they're also extremelyeasyto mess up. They can become tough, and chewy, dry and lackluster in no-time flat. But, no worries. I've got the solution to that locked and loaded.

I actually fell into it after a few attempts to perfect the omelet.Turns out, a similar technique can be used to achieve a glorious batch of scrambled eggs. Just a few ingredients and a little technique. That's all it takes.

HOW TO MAKE THE BEST SCRAMBLED EGGS

Start by scrambling the eggs. Mixing in a little bit of half-and-half with the eggs adds a nice richness and a lovely texture to the eggs. If you don't have half-and-half, you could use cream for even more decadence, or substitute whole milk if you'd like to avoid the cream altogether.

After the eggs and half-and-half come together, it's time to cook. Grab your best nonstick pan, and coat it in oil. Yes. Even if it's nonstick. You can use whatever oil you'd like, but I like butter for the flavor (and once again richness) it adds to the eggs. Just be sure if you're using butter, you don't allow it to brown. This will muddy the flavor of your eggs.

Start over medium heat, pour in the scrambled mixture and let the eggs sit for 1 whole minute. Then, begin working from the outer edges of the pan, and using a bendyspoon or spatula, begin gently pushing the eggs toward the center, allowing the uncooked egg to flow outward, toward the perimeter of the pan. Resist the urge to stir.Continue with this process until the eggs are no longer in liquid form.

Reduce the heat to medium-low and at this point, begin gently folding the eggs within the pan so that any uncooked portions make contact with the bottom of the saute pan. The entire process should take no longer 3 minutes for a soft scramble. Remove from the heat and serve right away.

And there you have it! Perfectly scrambled eggs.

BEST PAN TO USE FOR SCRAMBLED EGGS

Oh, and the pan! Can't forget about the pan. So, I've tried my fair share of nonstick cookware, but I have to say my very, most favorite brandfor scrambling up a stellar batch of eggs is All-Clad. A10", non-stick pan by All-Clad to be specific.

Calphalon is pretty legit as well, but beware that Calphalonhas multiple cookware lines out there, that differ indegrees of "quality." You can typically find the good ones at Williams-Sonoma, but ain't no shame in hunting for a bargain, people. Hit up your favorite outlets or TJ Maxx for a deal if you've got the time...oh, and don't forget about that ever-present 20% off Bed Bath & Beyond coupon.

Happy shopping and even happier eating!

FAQs

What are three tips for making perfect scrambled eggs? ›

Make sure the heat is around a little below medium. Don't use too much butter or it'll just taste like pure butter, which I'm not a fan of. Make sure you use enough salt. Like mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs don't taste good at all if they don't have enough salt.

What makes scrambled eggs better? ›

Cooking the beaten eggs low and slow helps guard against overcooking and produces supremely creamy scrambled eggs with big, soft curds. This technique also works well with mix-ins, like shredded cheese or blanched spinach; add them in the last minute of cooking.

What is the chef's secret to the best scrambled eggs? ›

Gordon Ramsay

First, he cracks eggs into a cold skillet without whisking first. Then, he adds butter. Then, he cranks up the heat to high and stirs continuously with a rubber spatula for 30 seconds. He then takes the pan off the heat, stirs for 10 seconds, then puts it back on the heat for 30 seconds.

What does Gordon Ramsay put in his scrambled eggs? ›

Ingredients
  1. 6 cold eggs.
  2. 15g butter.

What gives a higher volume and better texture to scrambled eggs? ›

Whisking = EXTRA FLUFFY and Light!

Whisk the eggs vigorously before you add them to the pan and even once they're in the pan. The eggs should be foamy on the top. Foam = air pockets, which is the key to a fluffy consistency. Use a fork to whisk as this gives you more control, especially when whisking in the pan itself.

What is the best liquid to add to scrambled eggs? ›

Adding approximately 1 tablespoon of liquid per egg—milk or cream are delicious, but water works, too—will help create steam and keep the scrambled eggs moist.

Why do chefs add milk to scrambled eggs? ›

The basic idea here is that the milk will increase the egg's fat content, resulting in scrambled eggs with a creamier consistency and a rich, buttery edge. Unfortunately, milk (even whole milk) doesn't have that much fat.

When should you add cheese to scrambled eggs? ›

Add the shredded cheese only when the eggs are already slightly cooked. This way we ensure that the eggs will stay perfectly scrambly, and the cheese will melt beautifully. Use a non-stick pan, to prevent sticking and overcooking the eggs.

How many eggs per person for scrambled eggs? ›

Whisk your eggs with the salt until they're well-mixed and uniform. Count on about two eggs per person, so this scrambled egg recipe (which calls for six eggs) serves about three people. Warm butter in a skillet set to medium-low heat. Once it's juuuuust beginning to bubble, pour the eggs in.

How to make scrambled eggs taste like restaurant eggs? ›

They are super simple but easy to over cook. Add a pinch of cornstarch! Easiest if you dissolve the cornstarch into a small volume of milk first, then whisk the lot into your egg bowl. Then, make sure you've used enough salt and enough butter/oil in the pan.
