The Opportunity:
The University of Central Florida is currently accepting applications for the role of Academic Success Coach. This position combines both academic advising and academic coaching into a newly created and exciting position of Academic Success Coach (ASC), with the ASC responsible for maintaining a case load of students and applying coaching methodologies and case management approaches to support students throughout their academic journey. Located centrally within the Division of Student Success and Well-Being, the ASC will be assigned to one of 10 academic colleges or other support units and will be tasked to holistically coach their assigned students through both academic and non-academic matters, and to monitor the progress of their students throughout their time at UCF. The ASC will also work collaboratively with other ASCs, along with other student support and well-being offices across campus, to provide the best, comprehensive care to UCF students. UCF’s Coaching Model: The Academic Success Coach (ASC) role is a newly created exciting position that combines academic advising and academic coaching. The ASC will report centrally in the Division of Student Success and Well-Being. The ASC will then be assigned, based on experience and/or need, to either one of 10 academic colleges (College of Arts and Humanities, Business Administration, Community Innovation and Education, Engineering and Computer Science, Health Professions and Sciences, Hospitality Management, Medicine, Nursing, Sciences, or Undergraduate Studies) or to a student services unit (Knights Major Exploration and Transition Center, Downtown, Excel, or Academic Services for Student-Athletes).
Responsibilities:
Provide Coaching Services to UCF Students:
Maintain a case load/roster of students and use MyKnightStar to track and monitor both engagements and ongoing progress and success of their students. Use relevant programs and technology to create pathways for persistence, progression, and timely graduation. Develop and implement highly proactive outreach services to their students, with particular attention to retention and student success. Provide students with holistic support by working with them to co-develop success plans and empowering them to understand their own degree requirements so that they can become advocates for themselves. Analyze students' academic and personal issues and refer students to the appropriate campus resource office.
Engage with UCF students to provide accurate and timely information and coaching support to students from initial enrollment through successful completion of programs, including but not limited to: recruitment, admissions, residency, orientation, new student requirements, funding resources and financial aid, program requirements, registration, enrollment, payment processes, disability resources, testing accommodations, ongoing success, retention, and graduation. This includes multiple methods of communication, including phone calls, email, face-to-face, and more.
Support student retention and graduation initiatives. Identify and help to resolve barriers that impede academic success. Monitor student progress and performance, analyze problem areas, determine solutions, and conduct intervention activities for students when needed.
Demonstrate knowledge, skills, and abilities to function autonomously as an Academic Success Coach (ASC) for relevant college programs and/or student populations. Reinforce the value of coaching through ongoing student relationships. Meet the productivity and goal expectations set by the unit and the University.
Provide Assistance to Academic Colleges:
At the direction of leadership, serve as the appointed representative to the academic college, and perform related duties associated with college-level retention, progression, graduation, and overall student success. Implement strategies, in partnership with the college, to increase registration and enrollment, promote timely graduation, and meet established outcomes. Assist leadership (Director, Associate Director, Assistant Director, and Senior Academic Success Coach) with developing and coordinating college-based recruiting, outreach, orientation, and ongoing engagement programming in partnership with the academic college.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 0+ years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred Experience:
Experience in education, with a preference for experience in higher education.
Experience in coaching, with a preference for experience in student coaching.
Experience in and/or understanding of case management.
Experience in and/or understanding of customer service.
Experience with using a CRM to case manage/track student, client, or customer interactions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (e.g., MS Word and Excel) and desktop agent software (e.g., MS TEAMS).

Ability to use independent judgment and decision-making skills when assisting students.
Ability to work well with others and as a team.
